Welcome to the home of Ms. Cox's 3rd grade class- THE FABULOUS ENGINEERING KIDS from Garehime Elementary School! Garehime Elementary is located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Garehime is celebrating its 20th year this year! The Engineering Kids are an amazing group of third-grade students that work and design in 3D. Follow us through our adventures in engineering!
This is my third year teaching at Garehime. I have two daughters that both grew up going to this school (My youngest will be in the 5th grade this year). I love everything about Garehime, from the Model City program to the Lifeskills program and everything in-between, there is something very special about Garehime. I look forward to an AMAZING school year! |
Garehime Elementary Robotics
I recently started a Robotics Club after school for our 4th grade students to test out our new Lego Mindstorms kits. So far, I have chosen 6 students to help me navigate through these kits and programs. I have ZERO experience with robotics. Luckily, I do have some experience with block coding and this is how the robots are controlled. The kids I chose will help me learn how to create and program robots so that I can bring this curriculum to the entire 3rd grade class in the spring. I hope to be able to have a team to compete by the next school year (if not sooner). Channel 8 News stopped by Garehime to highlight our classroom on the "What's Cool at School" segment last school year. The kids absolutely loved it! (Click on the 8 news Now Logo to View!) UPDATE! WE WON $250 for the most votes! We will use this money to build a science supply room! |
